Last October I was in Tunis for a 5-day business trip and it was a welcome change to Amman. It surprised me in a way that it is totally different from Jordan, Lebanon, Dubai, Syria or Egypt, where I have been before. The influence from Europe, especially France is very present. But it is still an Arab country. However, it seemed more open than Jordan in many ways. I walked around some neighborhoods, the main boulevard and the old Medina with its magnificent charm of nice old buildings. I loved the coffee culture and I was stunned by the beautiful city of Sidi Busaid next to the sea. It has many wonderful buildings with lovely architecture mainly kept in white and blue. In the old city, hidden very well, is the old king’s house which is now an awesome carpet shop. I bought two square partly woven, partly embroidered carpets which come in rich yellow and red colors.
