Ramadan is Qatayef time. For those who don't know, it is a typical sweet eaten during the month of Ramadan in Jordan and the Levant I assume. It is similar to pancakes, a bit more fluffy. It might be stuffed with nuts and sugar, cheese or even Nutella or whatever creative variations people come up with. Sahteen. Ramadan Kareem.
We love olive oil and definitely increased our intake in Jordan compared to Germany. We use it for almost all cooking. Good thing is you can buy it large quantity to save some cash. This extra virgin olive oil from Northern Jordan is very tasty and can be enjoyed with zaatar as well as for every day cooking. Ramadan Kareem everyone and Sahteen.
Honey bee keeping place we came across on our hike on the Jordan Trail from Iraq Al-amir to Husban. I love honey and always good to see the places where it comes from.
By now I have done many section of the Jordan Trail across the country but each part has its own beauty. Today's section from Iraq Al-amir to Husban was rich in diverse vegetation and views. We started at Qasr Abed and then walked along Wadi Kufrein, eventually crossing the water and making our way up the hills. We only completed half of the track today as we started a bit late and also have the early curfew. Another reason is also that the section actually involved some longer uphill part after crossing the Kufrein valley. I would definitely suggest to tag this section of the Jordan Trail as moderate, and not easy due to the elevation. So we only went where th trail hits the Dead Sea Road. From there you can't go back with Über or alike so we went back by coaster.
Discovered a beautiful frog green VW Beetle today during my bike ride in Um Uthaina.
Unfortunately, Friday has turned from my favorite day into my least favorite day. I hate it to be stuck at home and not being able to go outdoors. Since, we can move on less days and less hours, every once in a while I share some older pictures. This one is from my second visit to Petra back in 2009. It is my personal highlight of Petra.
This is another great Mural that can be found Downtown Amman. It adds to a great collection of street art that can be found in Amman.
Yesterday we tried out @amber.restolounge. The experience was good. For starters we had dynamite salad which came in glass jn which the dressing will be mixed together with the salad, very yummy. We also tried stuffed mushrooms and calamari. We really enjoyed the crispy calamari. Kids had pasta with chicken and broccoli and were satisfied. I had the Mexican pot, which was very good. Shrimps, capsicum and cherry tomatoes in a spicy sauce with rice. The rib eye was also approved by my wife, except for the mashed potatoes maybe. All in all yummy food, great environment and friendly staff.
Some of the typical old houses you Wil see in As-Salt. A different style than most of Amman which took over as the capital of Jordan at some point. Go and visit this unique city not far from Amman.
