Fiiiinaaaallyyy – It’s warm. Rooftop Season has officially arrived. More and more places open their terraces and outdoor spaces. So we decided to check out District Urban Rooftop near 2nd Circle. Surely, it is not a secret place and has been mentioned on many lists of the best rooftops in Amman, for a good reason. It combines a relaxed atmosphere, with style and a great view while being in middle of the city. Right when entering you get an idea of the design, which is simple, stylish and modern.
While there is nothing wrong with the inside seating, the real gem is of course the rooftop terrace which offers you a great view over the endless houses built on the hills of Amman. I am really looking forward to the next 6 months of the warmer season. And since I don’t smoke I enjoy it even more, because a lot of smoking places are turned into places that you can still enjoy, as you can sit outside.
District – View over Amman
You can either sit at the bar or at the tables on the terrace and enjoy beers, cocktails and other drinks as well as a diverse collection of food. There is no Shisha, so we quickly had a look at the food menu. We decided for the Goat Cheese Salad, the Duck Tacco Salad, Prima Steak and the Glazed Salmon. While the Duck Tacco Salad was really nice, the Goat Cheese Salad was just too small. I mean we are talking about a Bar in Amman and not some restaurant with 2 or 3 Michelin stars where I would expect small portions and high prices. On a positive note, the taste was fresh and yummy. The main dishes were really great. We went for a steak that came with baked potatoes and grilled vegetables, while the salmon was accompanied also with potatoes and spinach. If you go to District, I can really recommend the glazed salmon. It was marinated with a spicy, fruity garlic sauce which was really yummy. Food was hot, presented in a nice way and portions of the main dishes were satisfying. My wife tried a Hugo and it is the perfect summer drink.
While surely a bit quieter than usual during Ramadan, District has a great atmosphere and the music is relaxing and not too loud. There is nothing too much and nothing missing and staff were friendly, polite and paying attention. The olive tree in middle of the terrace and the art on the well together with the district logo illuminated high above the terrace, I can only say it feel good to be there. I can imagine it gets quiet packed on nice Summer weekend nights, so you rather reserve a table for these occasions. Other than this, I can only recommend District Urban Rooftop for relaxed Summer nights in Amman.
Thanks a lot to the District Team for inviting us to this great evening!
