Somewhere Else… in Amman

If you don’t know where to go, why not go somewhere else?

Ok, this joke has probably already been done a thousand times but I can’t get let it go because of the name of this nice gastro-pub near Rainbow Street. Already from outside, it looks very welcoming and when entering you will find a nice, cozy atmosphere. The place is not too big and has nice lighting. There is only one TV behind the bar counter, which I like.

The concept of Somewhere Else is a mix of bar and restaurant. They aim at high-quality food rather than snacks and the kitchen is built right in the place and you can see how food is prepared. No worries, it is not smelly. We tried the Short ribs and the lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. The ribs came with sauteed vegetables, mashed potato, and a nice gravy. Food was served hot and the meat was delicious, so was the rest. Along the main dish, I had a “almaza”, a Lebanese pilsener, which was really tasty. Finishing off with the great dessert was nice. It is not fancy but just yummy with the chocolate flowing out of the cake while you cut it.

Staff was welcoming and friendly and there is nothing to complain about. Somewhere else has a great view over Downtown and you can see the citadel and the huge flagpole in the distant. They have regular events such as Tequila Monday and from time to time they host events, they can arrange a birthday party and the audience is a mix of locals, expats, and filmmakers due to its proximity to film production companies and the Royal Film Commission.

Thx much for having us! Make sure to check their Tuesday Arabic nights
