How to describe Fat Tony’s? – I think the only thing non-American there is the Beer, which is actually great, since I wouldn’t consider Bud or Bud Light Beers at all. Located at Khalda Circle this relatively new Bar and Grill has been established by an American couple that has been living in Jordan for more than 10 years. It is an all-American Bar with the interior and menu that comes with it. Be it Burger, Wings or Steak – you will find it at Fat Tony’s. Downstairs is a small kitchen mainly for deliveries and upstairs you will find the Bar. It is a medium sized room and a bar with some TV screens and mainly normal tables to sit at.
When I came on a Thursday evening it was still empty but slowly filled up as time passed on. You will find Amstel and different Carakale on tap and a menu with quite a lot of different items that are, however, all fitting into the cliche of an American grill. No matter if you are looking for beef burgers or chicken burgers, sliders or Angus burger, wings or rings, mozzarella sticks or drums ticks – you will find it at Fat Tony’s. A nice addition are the seafood choices. They have shrimps, calamari, fish&chips and even mussels that come in different flavors and combinations. I opted for the shrimps in red creamy sauce and it was really delicious. Next time I will go for the classic Italian sandwich, named after a Chicago style sandwich that is supposed to be the best choice. That night a DJ played some tunes and even though it was not the most remarkable set, it was diverse and good. After all it is not a discotheque so nothing wrong with the choice.
The people were diverse as well and it was actually the audience who made this place worthwhile not to mention the enthusiastic owners, who you will find both in front and behind the bar. They are interested in their customers and try to turn their stay into a an enjoyable time. I think it is a great place and if there is one thing that could be optimized I would say, it could be more unique but it definitively will meet your expectations of a typical American Bar & Grill.
