Last weekend we attended the Oktoberfest celebration at Champions Tavern at the Marriot Hotel Amman. Although I have never even been to Oktoberfest in my life, I think I can say they put a great effort into providing real German experience with music, beer, and of course some typical German food, including excellent bread, pork sausages as well as Apfelstrudel. For a set price there was a buffet and all you can drink from Carakale Beer, so that was really nice. On top there were games for kids and adults as well as kids entertainment. What more can you wish for?
First we were greeted with a platter of cold cuts with Brezels and beer. The food buffet was great as well. We had some good sausages (choice of pork or beef) accompanied by Sauerkraut with Bacon, Rotkohl (red cabbage), mustard, pickles, and some small brisket sliders (not so German but very yummy). There was all kind of different kinds of breads, like dark rye bread as well as lots of Brezels of course. As for dessert there was a really yummy Apfelstrudel, which is a nice dessert well known in Austria that I heard is somehow derived from Baklava.
The best part however was some games organized by the Marriott Team both for kids and adults. While the kids had to try to eat a Brezel hanging down on a thread as fast as possible, the adults had some more challenging tasks such as holding a pitcher full of beer for as long as possible without spilling anything. There was also a contest of drinking a whole pitcher as fast as possible and a beer tasting contest, which I can proudly say, I won. I was actually surprised to see these kinds of activities at an event in Amman, even though it is attached to a pub connected to a 5-start hotel. And yes, it was a bit cheesy but somehow fun. An additional extra was the kids corner where they could paint and be themselves under supervision provided. That really makes a big difference for a family event.
Finally a big shutout to the Team of Champions Tavern at Marriott Hotel Amman for inviting me to this event.

Great post 😊
Oktoberfest in Amman is something I really did not expect. The Brezel looks really authentic 👌
